Changes, Orphanages and Kangaroos - This Weeks Blog!!!
Posted July 24th, 2008 by Dave
Right, well here we go again.
Welcome to the Blog one and all. You will be pleased to know that in spite of the radical new look that the show will have this Sunday, the Blog will, to all intents and purposes be more or less the same. I'll get to all that in a minute, but first; I watched a film called The Orphanage on Tuesday, it was out the at the cinema at the beginning of the year and I never made it round to seeing it, so I bought it on tuesday and went straight home to watch and I have to be honest with you, it scared the bejesus out of me.

Silverstone, Hello and Team Three - This Weeks Blog!!
Posted July 10th, 2008 by Dave
Hello.
Isn't Hello a great word? It can be used as a normal greeting - Hello. A really over the top, cheesy greeting - Hello!!!! Or as a means of expressing suprise - Hello! - Excellent.
Difficult to get the differences across here, admittedly, but you get the idea. Maybe I'll take you through it on the show on Sunday, or maybe not.
"Dave entertains you on Sunday lunchtimes." - Regular listeners may think this is a slightly optimistic tag-line for the show but you have to aim high don't you think?
The basic idea for the show is slightly weird and eclectic mix of almost everything. In the last few weeks we have spoken about topics such as how to make chocolate brownies, the mystery of the missing Airedale Dog, what makes Elvis laugh and if you fall over when alone in your flat, is it still incredibly embarrassing? - the answer to this, of course, is yes, yes it is.
As far as music is concerned, I try not to play the standard guff you hear on the radio all the time. If I play the bigger bands of the last 40 years, it won't be their biggest songs that you hear. Over the last few weeks, acts such as Elbow, Rilo Kiley, Belle and Sebastian, Kate Bush, The Somatics, XTC, The Blue Oyster Cult, Flaming Lips, Pixies, The Blueskins, Weezer, The White Stripes, Muse, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Sugars, Shack and The Hokes have all had an airing. It's not all guitar based stuff though, oh no, we have heard some Faithless and Chemical Brothers, and even some jazz from Terry Callier. If you like it, or you hate it, or you're mildly indifferent to it, let me know.
The features are flexible and will change on a fairly regular basis but for the minute they consist of "The not quite missing words quiz" - which gives you the chance to win one of my very own CDs that I have in studio with me, Celebrity View - where a famous name gives us their take on one of the week's big stories, over the last few weeks we have had Tom Jones, Lloyd Grossman and Steven Gerrard talking about subjects such as the American Elections and Britney Spears. We have the Question of the Week where I will be asking for your help/moral guidance on something that has happened to me in the last 7 days and we have a true story, which is exactly what you imagine it to be. Feel free to email or text at any point during the show about anything or nothing as they will continue to be crucial elements of the show as the weeks go by. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed in this way - I'd be lost without you.
There will also be a blog on here - the plan at moment is that it will be updated a couple of times a week.
Also, my apologies about the photo, I assure you I am not that fat/out of proportion in real life.
See you on Sunday.
