Howdy!

How are you? Well, I'm rubbish! My hayfever is driving me mad. I've already moaned about this several times on the show and at least once before on my blog, but this week it is worse than ever. I have even been to my the docs to see if he could prescribe me something a little stronger, all he actually managed to do was prescribe me something that isn't actually made anymore! This is something I found out after visiting several chemists last night, I wasn't happy to say the least!

Anyway, on a happier note I've just had a massive bonus from work and my boss called me into the office to say that I'm having a pay rise too, excellent! It's not often that something good happens is it? I suppose it makes it more worth while when something does. While I'm talking about work... Hello to Mags and Nads who regularly read my ramblings on my blog, when are we all out next???

The show on Sunday featured Ben Schofield down the phone, and me talking to him with the sniffles. Ben is a comedian from Bradford who was preparing to perform in Hull later on that night. I spoke to him about his current show which is called "Don't Panic" as it's about peoples fears and phobias, Ben admitted to me that he was affraid of the dark, not something any big hairy bloke should admit!! We chatted about his fellow comic Jerry Sadowitz who he supported a while ago, and how watching comics on the TV in the 80's influenced him into making people laugh. As Ben has long hair I asked him which shampoo he uses, I also asked him about his favourite cheese, It was Timotei and Jarlsberg - if your interested!

After the show had finished at 6pm (well actually during the last long song), I legged it (sneezing and watery eyed) to the bus stop otherwise I wouldn't get to Hull in time for Ben's show. He was performing at Durty Nellies on High Street (not the most well lit of pubs!) along with some other comedians as part of 'Carnival 69', a regular comedy night in the city. There was a good turn out and both of the acts before Ben were very good, my only complaint is that there is no buffet during the breaks! I'm out all day on a Sunday at very rarely get a chance to eat, so putting some grub on at half time would be just what the doctor ordered!! Cheeky I know, but if you don't ask you don't get, right?

That reminds me, Carnival 69 are bringing two former guests of the Mike Brown Radio Show back to Hull later in the year. Namely, they are Trevor Lock and me old mucker Frank Sidebottom. Here's the details...

On Sunday 21st September, Trevor Lock brings his “Signifying Nothing” tour to Hull. If you don't know, Trevor appearanced on telly with Lee & Herring on "Fist of Fun" and "This Morning with Richard not Judy" or "TMWRNJ" as they called it! He's also been on Russell Brand’s Radio Show on both BBC 6 Music and Radio 2 and supported him during his sell out Tour. Most recently Trevor has been filming for Channel 4’s 'Star Stories' in which he appears as various characters.

I'm particularly looking forward to Sunday 19th October 2008 for "An Evening with Frank Sidebottom", it's guarenteed to be a good laugh! Frank has been around since he appeared on a free promotional record distributed free with the video game "The Biz" for the ZX spectrum back in the 80's! Since he appeared on the show last year Frank has gigged up and down the UK and toured with Charlie Chuck, he has even performed in across the water in America, Blimey!

Tickets for both Trevor Lock and Frank Sidebottom are available from www.givemetickets.co.uk and are a measley £8. Right, that's my salesman bit over with!

Take Care, Mike.
