Oblivion, Comedy and Eurovision - This week's Blog!!!!

Howdy Doody - These openers are getting worse by the week aren't they.
How have you been this week? I have just read Mike's latest blog (no capitals, notice!) and I now have the worry that mine is going to look somewhat sparse and uneventful compared to his rollercoaster of comedy/music/cider news. So, if you like, when you're reading this, feel free to open up a second internet window and click on something interesting like the BBC website or Wikipedia or something, as hopefully that will then trick your mind into thinking you read about the Monaco Grand Prix 2nd practice, or the government of Yemen's policies towards salmon fishing here. Clever, huh?!
Anyway, yesterday I went to Alton Towers with my friend Kate. It was a fun day, despite only actually physically being in Alton Towers itself for about 2 hours, owing to our total lack of organisation and very very bad directions from the AA website. I think in hindsight expecting a recovering alcoholic to get us to Stoke and back was a bit optimistic though. See what I did there!
All that said, I got to go on Oblivion which is the best ride I have ever been on in my life. It scared the Bejesus out of me. Fantastic.
On Monday, I went to see comedian Tim Vine, which gave me one of the funniest evenings of my life. If you have never seen/heard of him before, he is very much in the style of Tommy Cooper, so much so that a lot of jokes that are credited as being Cooper's are actually Tim Vine's, that is how good he is. It's all double meanings and puns, which are as guaranteed to make me as the idea of a penguin slipping on a banana skin is. I highly recommend seeing him if you get the chance.
Apart from that, my week has been fairly uneventful. I watched the Eurovision Semi Final 1 on Tuesday and so have a bit of a headstart before the big show on Saturday, for which my tip is Greece for what it's worth, although watch out for Azerbaijan's Shakespeare's Sister rip-off as that deserves some kind of prize. It's a shame Ireland and Estonia didn't make it through, if you've not seen they're entries yet try and Youtube them, it'll be worth your while I promise.
That's it then I think. See you on Sunday at 10 for more of the same.
T'ra
