A road in East Yorkshire was closed in the early hours of Friday morning following a mystery vehicle fire.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the A165 Hull to Bridlington road after a car left the road, crashed into a ditch and caught fire at around 3.40am.

Nobody was with the vehicle when firefighters arrived at the scene at White Cross, near Long Riston, East Yorkshire and the road was closed while firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels to control the blaze.

Firefighters are assuming nobody was hurt and Humberside Police are investigating the incident.

The road was re-opened at 6am today.
