Contractors have now almost completed footpath works along Main Street and Preston Lane, Bilton. Road resurfacing works are due to start on Monday, 15th Febuary and will take approximately four weeks, commencing at St Peter’s Church and extending towards Wyton Holmes Bridge.

Janet Thackray NDD, is an experienced qualifired tutor who has art classes in Patrington at her own studio, its only £10 for the two hour session. One to one tuition can also be arranged. Classes are available from complete beginners to more advanced artists.

Inman's Road in Hedon to close

It is estimated that Inmans Road in Hedon will be closed to traffic for at least two weeks from 29th March to 2nd April 2010. Normal bus services will not be resumed until the works are completed.

Tea Dance Dates Announced

Withernsea became the latest venue to host a tea dance. The Pavilion Leisure Centre provided the place, and Paul Silvester of East Riding sport and development, along with colleague Adam Toes, came up with the idea. I must admit that I went out of curiosity as much as anything else, as both my partner and myself have only 4 left feet between us.

At Sledmere House on Sunday 17th May. Gates open at 10.00am and there will be over 70 stalls selling everything the keen gardener could wish for together with a range of quality crafts, outdoor living products and some fine local food. Demonstrations of wrought iron work and planting of hanging baskets will take place throughout the day and there will also be a gardening advance clinic.

Millennium Playpark work starts

Work has started on the exciting new facility for children and young people at the Millennium Playpark. The building has been installed and the playpark is currently being refurbished. This is a large scale project, investing £700,000 for play in Withernsea. Additional funds have been set aside to fully restore the natural features at the site, once the works are complete.

Lighthouse will be beacon of advice for tourists visiting Holderness

From The Holderness Gazette: Withernsea Tourist Information Centre is set for a bright future, with plans to re-locate the centre in Withernsea Lighthouse from Easter 2010.

The privately-run lighthouse museum’s board of trustees has agreed the move and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s cabinet is expected to give its backing to the proposal at its next meeting on Tuesday, March 16.

Hornsea traders taught to cope with changes

As construction work starts on a new Tesco store in Hornsea, local traders are to be shown how to cope with potential businesses changes in their town.

The council granted permission for the new supermarket at the greenfield site off Southgate, which after it's built will see the creation of 318 car parking spaces, a petrol station and 270 jobs.
